Inspired by Robert Holdstock’s ‘Mythago Wood’ she is a manifestation of the Earth Goddess as a young Celtic warrior. Image size is 290 x 178 mm and mounted in 40mm mount to an overall size of 370 x 258. Stuart Dilley has signed this print on the image in gold or silver pen. It was painted in the early nineties and there were several influences which brought about her inception. Apart from Holdstock's book the artist also wanted to create a stylised Celtic/wiccan priestess and include one of his favourite creatures - the Tawny Owl, which features quite strongly in wiccan fables and belief. The figure is also influenced by his love of all things Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite and there are some strands of Anglo-Saxon poetry if you look really closely.
