Art of Alan Lee

Tolkien Artist

Alan Lee is a British artist best known for illustrating the 1991 edition of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Alan Lee's paintings are evocative and imaginative. Rather than just painting the action Alan Lee's paintings of Middle-Earth fill out the environment around the words of JRR Tolkien. Alan Lee was chosen to be the main concept artist for the Lord of the Rings movies ( see the official LotR movie site ) and worked with artist John Howe on the design work..
